In May 2011, OFSTED carried out a full inspection of the boarding provision at Moorland School.

As a former pupil I feel extremely passionate about Moorland School and appreciate fully my responsibility to ensure that every child feels safe and happy within our care. I was disappointed with the previous Ofsted Boarding Inspection which was conducted under my predecessor Mr Smith. Following my appointment in September 2009 I have established a new Senior Leadership Team and I am happy to announce that through joint endeavours and hard work we have achieved a 'satisfactory' boarding school inspection with some elements of 'good' within the provision.

"Parents confirm that the boarding is 'led and manage effectively', but the organisational structure is still being established. The current Headteacher only took over this school in 2009, the Deputy responsible for boarding in September 2010, and the Head of Boarding in May 2011. Together they are consistently introducing and revising policies and systems to ensure they are effective in practice." Ofsted (Boarding, June 2011)

"They are genuinely committed to continually improving the services provided to the boarders and recognise they are, 'on the right journey, but still have some way to go' ". Ofsted (Boarding, June 2011)

"Parents are generally highly satisfied with the quality of care provided. They describe the staff as, 'friendly and professional', who actively listen to any concerns or suggestions to improve. They conclude|: 'I wish to thank the school management for the overwhelming support and care shown to my child.' "Ofsted (Boarding, June 2011)

As you can see from the Inspectors findings the school is going from strength to strength and we are now working towards achieving an 'outstanding' judgement within our next inspection cycle. I am confident that this can be achieved at Moorland given a little more time.
