Moorland School Sixth Form builds on previous learning and gives students the platform to achieve their life goals. Our unique individualised learning approach adapts education and daily life to create the perfect environment for learning. This allows our students to leave Moorland confident and assured of their abilities.
A central part of this success is our small class sizes. These classes allow our dedicated team to hone the syllabus and adapt it to individual strengths and interests. This format along with our pastoral care creates a family atmosphere perfect for developing interpersonal skills like communication, self-confidence and respect.
This focus on individual development amid a family-like atmosphere allows us to prepare students for A-levels. These skills prepare students for life beyond school and allow them to pursue their goals.
Situated in the beautiful Ribble Valley, our school is the perfect place to learn with modern facilities, engaging classrooms, idyllic natural surroundings and the nearby town of Clitheroe providing everything our students could need. This environment is calm and peaceful and allows students to engage in their educational endeavours without disturbance.
The sixth form curriculum is uniquely individual. Our dedicated team of educators tailor learning to specific interests and strengths allowing our sixth form students the scope to pursue their dream careers and goals. We teach a broad range of subjects from Mathematics, English, Sciences and Geography to creative and technical pursuits like Dance, Design and Technology, and Art.
Social skills, or ‘soft skills’, are a vital part of student development. Our educators and pastoral team understand the importance of teaching students to communicate effectively and we endeavour to make sure everyone at our school feels heard. This breeds confidence and independence.
Moorland school creates a safe and open space to prepare students for life beyond school. We do this by helping our senior students pursue their goals and develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Our team engage, encourage and challenge students to help develop their skills. We do this through our close-knit, familial pastoral care and a uniquely tailored curriculum
This approach works because our educators and carers love what they do. Students learn best when educators are inspired by their own subjects and we are lucky enough to have a team that cares deeply for education and the welfare of students.
Students studying for A levels usually choose three or four subjects and they may combine this with BTEC. Our teachers and education team dedicate a lot of their time to honing an individual’s academic strengths. This approach means we can really help students achieve outstanding results in their A Levels and go on to study at a top university in the UK or elsewhere. Students can choose from a wide range of subjects including Mathematics, English, Geography, Religious Education, Sciences, Art, Drama, ICT and more.
We are fortunate enough to have small class sizes and our students thrive in this close-knit family environment. We use modern assessment techniques to understand where students are in their development and alter our teaching style accordingly.
We offer the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport which is equivalent to three A Levels. This two year programme can be studied alone or in combination with traditional A Levels or the courses that our specialist Football Academy offers. Our Ballet Academy also offers the Vocational Professional course and the Diploma in Dance Education, as well as Graduate and Associate courses.
Our small classes and specialist teaching mean that we are able to offer a flexible Sixth Form experience where students can mix and match our traditional A Level offering with our two academies to create a bespoke two year programme leading on to university, college or a professional career.
Our Academy has access to our indoor 4G training pitch all year round, ensuring our students can train day/night, rain or shine. We also regularly make use of our partnership with Brockhall, the Blackburn Rovers Academy.
Our campus is also home to our specially built dance studio. With an excellently sized space and performance stage, parents are regularly invited to view performances of both classical and contemporary ballet.
