All children within our Junior School take part in weekly swimming lessons at Ribblesdale Pool, Clitheroe. We work in partnership with the ASA School Swimming Charter which allows the children to work towards specific goals, enabling them to earn badges and certificates for their achievements.
We are lucky to work closely with Bilinguasing to assist the children with learning a new language. Combining singing, music and language into one lesson engages children and they find themselves learning a language without realising.
Ribcaged Dramatic Arts
We have a well-established relationship with the national award-winning theatre company ‘Ribcaged.’ Creative Director, Richard Hoyle and his team work closely with the children to develop their communication and confidence skills. Ribcaged visit the Junior school every other week and deliver engaging lessons which the children continuously look forward to.
Forest school is a fantastic opportunity for the children to take a hands on approach to their learning. With having extensive grounds here at Moorland School, the children can benefit from these surroundings and develop essential skills. Forest school offers the children the chance to interact socially with others and to solve problems effectively.
Children are able to realise their physical, social and emotional needs through skill and play based activities such as den building, fire lighting, tool use and woodland games.
Forest school is accessible to all children within the Junior School as part of our curriculum.
All children in Moorland Juniors have the opportunity to take part in fortnightly gymnastic sessions at BEST Gymnastics and Trampolining Club. The children have the privilege of being taught by two ex-professional England Gymnast nationals, who support the children in working towards relevant skills and badges.
Every alternate Wednesday the children will have the opportunity to take part in our Enrichment programme, which will involve outdoor and adventurous activities at Waddow Hall. Through this, the children are encouraged to work as part of a team and take part in activities that will engage them, excite them and provide experiences that will prepare them for the future. Our children will have the opportunity to develop their skills and talents through a wide range of activities including: caving, archery, tree climbing, raft building, abseiling and much more. This opportunity to develop their social, moral, spiritual and cultural strengths enables them to flourish in their childhood, as well as later life.
