Junior’s Move Ability Day

The Junior students had an extremely exciting visit from Move Ability for a ‘Go Me’ day. This session allowed the children to reflect on a range of emotions, discuss their wellbeing, use British Sign Language, and build strategies for emotional resilience in the future.

The Junior students were actively encouraged to take part in the activities, discussions, and tasks throughout the day. As part of this event, the Junior School was split into 4 teams; Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. Each team was tasked with working together to build the most points; this included answering questions, thinking outside the box, and communicating.

Every child took part in new and exciting tasks and learnt useful phrases in British Sign Language.

In the afternoon, the Juniors realised the impact of facial expressions when learning the basics of British Sign Language such as asking how people are feeling, showing happiness, having a conversation in sign language –  especially when showing if they are happy, sad, angry, or scared.

Following on from the visit, the children discussed how much they enjoyed the day with Jo- Anna from Move-Ability, with pupils expressing how fun it was whilst also being an educational and exciting day.
