Moorland School
Nurturing Young Minds
Seeing our students as an extension of our own family is paramount in the levels of success and happiness we deliver. We actively encourage warmth and respect for all and ensure that we celebrate success at every opportunity. We strive to support cultural differences whilst maintaining a traditional approach to education.
We understand that every child is unique and this should be reflected in their learning journey. We prepare our students academically and socially in preparation for successful and fulfilling lives.
Education
Helping Children Reach Their Full Potential
As a non-selective independent school, we enrol children based upon their behaviour which allows us to ensure that all children learn in a happy environment.
Children are fully assessed when they join Moorland to help us identify any educational differences or special requirements for individual learning styles. We also aim to identify all areas of strength within students. This allows us to deliver teaching that allows each student to reach their academic potential.

🕵️♀️ Class Detectives! 🕵️♂️
Today in English, Year 1 and 2 became real detectives!
They received a special letter from Hermlin the Detective Mouse, who needed their help after losing all his clues.
Using the special rules for plurals that Hermlin sent, the children worked hard to figure out whether words should end with –s or –es. Once they cracked the code, our clever detectives used their new words to write their own sentences! They even explored some of their favourite books to spot more plural words hiding on the pages.
What super spelling detectives they are! 🐭🔍✨

Today, Nurse Linzi visited Reception Class to share how doctors and nurses help people stay healthy. The children had lots of fun learning the importance of handwashing to keep germs away! 🧼✨
They got hands-on experience by cleaning ‘wounds’ (courtesy of some felt tip pens) and applying plasters like pros.
With their aprons on, they bandaged each other’s arms and legs, turning into mini medics for the day! 🩹❤️
They also explored some medical equipment, learning about thermometers, blood pressure machines, and pulse oximeters.
What a fun and educational experience for our little ones! Thank you, Nurse Linzi! 👩⚕️💉 #FutureDoctors #HealthyHabits #LearningThroughPlay

🌍✨ Exploring Our World with Mrs Redmayne ✨🌍
This half term, we’re becoming mini geographers! 🧭 We’ve been learning all about latitude and longitude, discovering how these invisible lines help us find places on Earth. 🌐
We’ve explored the Equator – the warm middle of our planet – and compared it to the icy, frozen wonder of Antarctica at the very bottom of the globe! ❄️🐧
Through maps, globes and hands-on activities, we’re finding out why some places are hot, others are cold, and what makes Antarctica such a unique place on Earth. 🌎💙

When a teacher truly knows every child - their strengths, quirks, worries and sparks of curiosity , learning becomes deeply personal ❤️🍎
It’s not about delivering a lesson to a group.
It’s about building relationships, trust and a sense of belonging that helps every child flourish.
In a smaller class:
✨ Children have the confidence to speak, to question, to try.
✨ Teachers have the space to adapt, to stretch, to nurture.
✨ Parents see not just progress, but growth - academic, emotional and social.
At Moorland, we see the magic daily - the quiet confidence that builds when a child realises their teacher has time for them.
Because in the end, education isn’t a numbers game.
It’s a human one. ❤️

Be Confident in Choosing Your Child's Education
We believe every child has the right to a high standard of education which is why we are academically non-selective. We select students based on their behaviour and personal attributes and combine this with a dedicated teaching and pastoral team. We strive to educate your child to the highest academic level, whilst ensuring they stay grounded.
We want you to feel confident in choosing Moorland to educate your child, which is why we operate an ‘open door’ policy with regard to parental visits. Our dedication to education is reflected in our students’ success.
