Day 1 of Summer School ✅☀️
From additional phonics and reading comprehension practice to mastering column addition, our children worked incredibly hard and impressed us every step of the way. We even found time to visit our much-loved rabbits, Salt and Pepper, for some well-earned cuddles and smiles. 🐇🤍

What a year it has been.
Our children have surpassed expectations, achieved incredible things and made us proud every single day. They have worked so hard, tackled every challenge with determination and done it all with smiles on their faces.
This year we’ve visited Paris, expanded our Forest School, welcomed new families, grown as a school community and created memories that will stay with us for years to come.

Moorland truly is one big family, and we are so grateful for every single one of you.
Today has been one of the most wholesome, emotional days of the year. We’ve shed tears as we’ve said goodbye to our incredible Year 6 children, celebrated everything they’ve achieved, and listened to parents sharing memories filled with love and pride. We know each and every one of them is ready for their next adventure, taking with them the confidence, skills and values they’ve developed during their time at Moorland.
Whilst the school year may be over, we’re not quite finished yet… 👀 Keep your eyes peeled for highlights from our wonderful Year 6 Leavers’ Meal.

Learning comes to life outside the classroom! 🌿💦
Our Years 3 and 4 had an amazing day at Cuerden Valley becoming real geographers and scientists. They explored the river, identified insects and river wildlife, measured the width and depth of the river, investigated how clean the water is, and learned all about key river features including meanders, deposits and the mouth of a river.
There was plenty of hands-on learning (and a lot of splashing!) as the children immersed themselves in their field study experience. 🌍🦋🐟

Our 2-3’s have been having a dino-mite time during Dinosaur Week! 🦕
The children loved transforming into little dinosaurs as they painted their feet and created giant dinosaur footprints across the paper. There were lots of giggles, sensory exploration and excitement as they stomped, tiptoed and roared their way through the activity!
Activities like this are a fantastic way to encourage sensory play, develop balance and coordination, spark imaginative play and create wonderful opportunities for conversation and new vocabulary.
Who knew dinosaurs could leave such colourful footprints? 🦖

✨G R A D U A T I O N 2 0 2 6 ✨
On Friday we celebrated an incredible group of children as they took their next big step towards school. Watching each and every one of them shine with confidence, pride and excitement was such a special moment and one we’ll treasure for years to come.
To our wonderful graduates; we are so incredibly proud of everything you have achieved. You have grown into kind, curious, resilient and confident individuals & we can’t wait to see all that the future holds for you.

✨W E E K 3 1 ✨
Another week has flown by, and what a wonderful one it’s been!
This week has been filled with exploration, imagination and plenty of smiles. From muddy outdoor adventures and exciting dinosaur discoveries to sensory play, baking, mark making and cosy story time, our children have been busy learning through play every single day.
Our outdoor spaces have been full of laughter as the children have enjoyed running freely, transporting natural resources, getting creative with messy play and making the most of every opportunity to explore the world around them. Indoors, we’ve been strengthening little hands with playdough, developing early writing skills through creative activities, investigating colours and textures & sharing stories together as our love of books continues to grow.
Our biggest highlight this week was celebrating our wonderful School Ready Graduation. It was such a special occasion and a chance to celebrate just how far our oldest children have come during their time at Moorland. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them as they prepare to begin their next adventure at school. Graduation photos will be shared very soon! 🎓
As we look back over the week, we’re reminded that some of the most magical moments happen in the simplest of ways; through friendship, curiosity, muddy hands, shared laughter and the confidence to explore something new.
At Moorland, every day is an opportunity to discover, grow and make memories that last a lifetime 🤎

A little rain (and a lot of mud!) never stops our youngest explorers.
Today’s adventure was all about puddle jumping, muddy hands, teamwork and embracing the great outdoors in all its autumn glory.

We were so lucky to have Steph from Steph’s Cleaning Services visit us today as part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic! 🤩
Steph shared all about how she helps her clients and businesses, and how she manages her amazing team👩💼✨
The children had a super time learning how to use different cleaning tools, and we even got to clean the toys, the floor, and fold toilet paper! 🧽
It was such a fun, hands-on way to understand the value of teamwork and the importance of helping others.

Our Key Stage 2 had an amazing day exploring the river, spotting wildlife, and learning all about the life cycles of mayflies and trout! 🪶🐠
There were lots of games, teamwork and hands-on fun as we discovered how rivers are full of life.

What an incredible day at the Moorland Family Fun Afternoon! 🎉
Our school field was bursting with colour and laughter as families enjoyed a fantastic carnival-themed event, brought to life by Moorland Junior School and Moorland Junior School PTA.
From the vibrant face painting and bustling stalls to classic games like Hook a Duck and the Coconut Shy, there was fun at every turn. The inflatable helter skelter by Funtime Inflatables was a huge hit, while little ones loved the soft play and toddler bouncy castle provided by Ribble Valley Soft Play Hire.
🎶 The Ribble Valley Community Band and Phoenix Solo filled the air with music, and Adrian Catch wowed us all with his magical tricks! Families captured memories at the Photo Booth, refuelled with delicious food from Amico Mio, cooled down with ice cream, and relaxed with a drink from the bar.
💛 A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special — what a brilliant celebration of our school community!
