What a year it has been.

Our children have surpassed expectations, achieved incredible things and made us proud every single day. They have worked so hard, tackled every challenge with determination and done it all with smiles on their faces.

This year we’ve visited Paris, expanded our Forest School, welcomed new families, grown as a school community and created memories that will stay with us for years to come.

To our wonderful parents - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for trusting us with your precious children. Your support means everything to us.

Moorland truly is one big family, and we are so grateful for every single one of you.

Today has been one of the most wholesome, emotional days of the year. We’ve shed tears as we’ve said goodbye to our incredible Year 6 children, celebrated everything they’ve achieved, and listened to parents sharing memories filled with love and pride. We know each and every one of them is ready for their next adventure, taking with them the confidence, skills and values they’ve developed during their time at Moorland.

What a year it has been.

Learning comes to life outside the classroom! 🌿💦

Our Years 3 and 4 had an amazing day at Cuerden Valley becoming real geographers and scientists. They explored the river, identified insects and river wildlife, measured the width and depth of the river, investigated how clean the water is, and learned all about key river features including meanders, deposits and the mouth of a river.

There was plenty of hands-on learning (and a lot of splashing!) as the children immersed themselves in their field study experience. 🌍🦋🐟

Our wonderful 2-3’s had the best time exploring Blackpool Zoo, spotting all kinds of amazing animals and making lots of exciting discoveries along the way. From watching the playful penguins to saying hello to the majestic giraffes and curious monkeys, every corner brought a new adventure! 🦒 🦓

Trips like these are such a valuable part of children’s learning, helping to develop confidence, curiosity and an understanding of the world around them, all while creating special memories with their friends.

✨W E E K 2 8 ✨

What another fantastic week we’ve had at Moorland! ☀️

From exciting adventures and creative experiences to cuddles with our furry friends, every day has been filled with smiles, laughter and learning.

This week we celebrated National Chocolate Day with some delicious (and wonderfully messy!) baking and sensory experiences, where our little chefs enjoyed exploring, mixing, tasting and creating🍫

Our Teddy Bears’ Picnic was as magical as ever, with plenty of special furry guests joining us for songs, stories, picnics and outdoor fun 🧸

Our children also headed off on some incredible adventures, exploring the zoo and following the dinosaur trail, discovering amazing animals, hunting for prehistoric creatures and making memories that will last a lifetime.

The sunshine certainly made another appearance this week too! Despite another scorcher, our team kept everyone cool with plenty of outdoor play, shaded adventures, water, hydration and opportunities to enjoy every moment safely.

Back at nursery, creativity has been flowing as always; from painting masterpieces and exploring our ever-evolving Atelier, to Forest School adventures, music and movement, animal encounters with our much-loved rabbits & countless moments of curiosity, imagination and joy.

As always, it’s impossible to capture everything in just one post, but here’s a little glimpse into another wonderful week across Moorland 💛

Our babies had the most wonderful Teddy Bear Day, spending the day with their favourite cuddly companions. From sharing stories and enjoying teddy themed sensory play to a special picnic in the sunshine, every moment was filled with smiles, curiosity and comfort.

These special experiences help to nurture early communication, imagination and secure relationships, all while creating precious memories for our youngest learners.

The Moorland Atelier 💜

A place to imagine, create, investigate and inspire!

Welcome to the very beginning of our newest adventure.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we’re transforming one of our spaces into a dedicated creative atelier; a place where children can explore, express themselves, experiment and create without limits.

And where better to start than by handing the paintbrushes to the children themselves! 🎨

No rules. No expectations. Just complete freedom to paint the walls however they choose. Their ideas, their creativity and their mark on a space that has been designed entirely with them in mind.

This is very much a work in progress & we have so many exciting plans for its development over the coming months. We can’t wait to watch it evolve into a beautiful environment where creativity, curiosity and imagination can flourish every single day.

This is just the beginning and we can’t wait to share the journey with you ✨

Every week is different at Moorland, but one thing always stays the same… the smiles! 💛

This week, we were delighted to welcome the newest members of our Moorland family, our adorable lionhead rabbits, Salt & Pepper! The children have loved meeting them, learning how to care for them and beginning what we’re sure will be many wonderful adventures together.

The excitement continued with our spectacular Colour Run, where children (and staff!) had the BEST time getting covered in every colour imaginable, all whilst supporting our amazing Georgia as she raises money for Motor Neurone Disease in memory of her wonderful mum🌈💙

Our adventures took us beyond the nursery too, with exciting trips to @imagineoswaldtwistle and the bowling alley, giving our children opportunities to explore, discover, problem solve and build confidence in new environments.

Back at nursery, every room has been busy creating, painting, exploring, singing, dancing, sharing stories, investigating nature and making the most of every learning opportunity. From our tiniest babies discovering textures and sensory experiences to our oldest children developing new skills through play, every day is filled with meaningful moments.

None of this would be possible without our incredible team, who pour their hearts into creating magical childhood memories every single day🤎

Today has been incredibly special & we simply wanted to say a huge thank you to our wonderful Moorland families, staff and community for supporting our Colour Run fundraiser.

Together, you’ve helped raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease in honour of our amazing Georgia and in loving memory of her wonderful mum. The kindness, generosity and encouragement shown today has been overwhelming and we know it has meant so much to Georgia and everyone who loves her.

To every child who ran, every parent who donated, every member of staff who got covered in colour and every person who has supported this cause - thank you! 🤎

Our wonderful 2-3’s enjoyed the most fantastic summer day out at Mrs Dowson’s Farm! 🐄🐑🌾

Despite the warm weather, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. A huge thank you to our wonderful farm guide, who made sure everyone was well looked after, keeping us in the shade whenever possible and ensuring plenty of opportunities for water, rest and cooling down.

The children loved meeting the friendly farm animals, exploring the countryside and taking in all the sights, sounds and smells that make a visit to the farm such a rich learning experience. From building confidence around animals to developing curiosity about the world around them, every moment was filled with smiles, laughter and new discoveries.

What a truly memorable summer adventure! 💚

What a week it has been! 💛

Whilst the soaring temperatures have certainly tested us all, it certainly hasn’t stopped the fun!

From Forest School adventures and water play to swimming lessons, sensory exploration, outdoor games and endless opportunities to learn through play, our children have continued to thrive with smiles that say it all ✨

A huge thank you must go to our incredible team. Throughout one of the hottest weeks of the year, they have shown nothing but dedication, resilience, kindness and professionalism. They have worked tirelessly to keep every child safe, comfortable, engaged and smiling - you are simply AMAZING 🤎

To our wonderful families, thank you for your patience, support & most importantly, for continuing to entrust us with your precious little ones during such challenging conditions. We know how difficult the week has been for everyone and we are incredibly grateful for your continued trust and understanding.

Our Toddler 1 & 2 children have been making the very most of the glorious weather this week, keeping cool with lots of exciting water play out in the garden!

From paddling pools and pouring activities to bubbles, splashing and sensory fun, there have been smiles all around🫧

Water play is so much more than just fun, it supports children’s physical development as they pour, scoop and splash, encourages communication and language through shared play, develops early mathematical concepts such as full, empty and volume and provides wonderful sensory experiences that spark curiosity and exploration 💦

As always, our team have ensured the children stayed safe in the sunshine with regular drinks, sun cream, hats and plenty of opportunities to cool down in the shade between all the water filled adventures ☀️

What a day our Pre-School and School Ready children have had! From water fights and splash games to endless laughter and unforgettable memories, today was everything summer should be and more 🌈✨

The sun had its hat on… and so did we! 😎☀️

As always, our incredible team threw themselves into the fun (quite literally!) and helped create a day full of joy, excitement and magical moments. The beaming smiles, squeals of laughter and soaking wet clothes say it all! 💙

Our babies have been making the most of the beautiful weather as they explored a wonderful sensory invitation outdoors ☀️

Using flowers, water and shiny treasure basket resources, the children enjoyed touching, splashing, grasping and investigating a range of natural materials.

Sensory experiences like these help to support babies’ cognitive development, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and early communication as they explore the world around them through their senses. The children were fascinated by the colours, textures and reflections, showing curiosity, concentration and lots of smiles along the way! 🌺

Our children have been transported to their very own tropical paradise as they explored Tiki Town! 🌴☀️

Dressed in colourful leis and grass skirts, the children immersed themselves in imaginative play, creating tropical smoothies, mixing fruity potions and serving up delicious island inspired treats.

This exciting invitation to play encouraged creativity, communication and teamwork as the children worked together, shared resources and brought their ideas to life. As they poured, scooped, mixed and measured, they were also developing important early mathematical concepts, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Experiences like this help children build confidence, strengthen friendships and develop key skills through meaningful, child-led play.

Most importantly, there were plenty of smiles, laughter and tropical fun enjoyed in the sunshine! 🌈🍍🌺

✨B I G M O V E M E N T S ✨

Our 2-3’s children have been getting creative with some large scale outdoor painting! Using long brush strokes, reaching high, stretching across their bodies and making marks in all directions, the children were developing an important skill known as crossing the midline.

Crossing the midline occurs when children move a hand, arm or foot across the centre of their body to the opposite side. Activities like large scale painting help strengthen this skill, which supports future writing, drawing, hand-eye coordination, balance and bilateral coordination.

Alongside developing their physical skills, the children enjoyed exploring colours, expressing themselves creatively and working collaboratively with their friends. The smiles, concentration and enthusiasm on display showed just how much fun learning can be! 🌈✨

At Moorland, we understand just how important quality sleep is for young children. That’s why every age group has access to their own dedicated sleep room, carefully designed to provide a calm, peaceful and nurturing environment where little ones can rest comfortably and recharge for their busy day of learning and play🌙💤

Safe sleep is always our priority. All of our staff receive Safe Sleep training and we follow the guidance and recommendations of the The Lullaby Trust to ensure the highest standards of care and wellbeing for every child in our setting.

What a wonderful week we’ve had across the nursery!

From bubble filled giggles and sensory exploration to muddy adventures in Forest School, water play, soccer sessions, balance biking and imaginative small world play, our children have been busy learning, exploring and making memories with their friends.

This week has been full of curiosity and discovery as children investigated treasure baskets, developed their physical skills outdoors, built confidence through new challenges and enjoyed plenty of opportunities to learn through play. We have loved seeing friendships blossom, teamwork develop and those special moments of awe and wonder that make every day at Moorland so special.

A particular highlight this week was welcoming our professional photographer to nursery. They spent time capturing life at Moorland, from our beautiful learning environments to the joy, laughter and engagement of the children throughout the day. These images will help us give our website a fresh new look and better showcase everything that makes Moorland such a special place to grow and learn.

Our 2–3’s children have been busy exploring colour, texture and movement through a fantastic construction themed painting activity. Using diggers, dump trucks, their hands and even their feet, the children created wonderful patterns and marks while developing their fine and gross motor skills, creativity and imagination.

There were smiles, laughter and plenty of colourful discoveries as the children experimented with mixing colours, making tracks and exploring the paint in their own unique ways.

Sometimes the messiest activities create the richest learning experiences! 💜💚💛🧡

Reception absolutely loved today’s Forest School session! 🌿🌧️

A little rain (and a lot of mud!) never stops our youngest explorers.

Today’s adventure was all about puddle jumping, muddy hands, teamwork and embracing the great outdoors in all its autumn glory.

These sessions build confidence, resilience and a real connection with nature! 🥾🍂💛

We were so lucky to have Steph from Steph’s Cleaning Services visit us today as part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic! 🤩

Steph shared all about how she helps her clients and businesses, and how she manages her amazing team👩‍💼✨

The children had a super time learning how to use different cleaning tools, and we even got to clean the toys, the floor, and fold toilet paper! 🧽

It was such a fun, hands-on way to understand the value of teamwork and the importance of helping others.

🌊 What an adventure by the River Ribble! 🐟💦

Our Key Stage 2 had an amazing day exploring the river, spotting wildlife, and learning all about the life cycles of mayflies and trout! 🪶🐠

There were lots of games, teamwork and hands-on fun as we discovered how rivers are full of life.

Back at school, we continued with more exciting activities to explore life cycles and migration - a fact filled day 🐠 🎣 ✨

What an incredible day at the Moorland Family Fun Afternoon! 🎉

Our school field was bursting with colour and laughter as families enjoyed a fantastic carnival-themed event, brought to life by Moorland Junior School and Moorland Junior School PTA.

From the vibrant face painting and bustling stalls to classic games like Hook a Duck and the Coconut Shy, there was fun at every turn. The inflatable helter skelter by Funtime Inflatables was a huge hit, while little ones loved the soft play and toddler bouncy castle provided by Ribble Valley Soft Play Hire.

🎶 The Ribble Valley Community Band and Phoenix Solo filled the air with music, and Adrian Catch wowed us all with his magical tricks! Families captured memories at the Photo Booth, refuelled with delicious food from Amico Mio, cooled down with ice cream, and relaxed with a drink from the bar.

💛 A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special — what a brilliant celebration of our school community!
