To launch their new English unit on curating information booklets about camping, the children were introduced to a mystery bag filled with different camping-related objects. They loved making predictions and guessing what each item might be used for! 🏕️
The children then headed outside and worked together to put up a large four-person tent. They worked incredibly hard, showing fantastic teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills throughout the challenge. Miss Sunshine was super proud of them all!
To finish the session, the children climbed inside the tent and settled down to read a few pages from their new class book while listening to the rain outside. It was such a cosy and exciting way to begin their new English topic. 📚✨

Mrs Redmayne’s had an incredible day at University of Central Lancashire exploring the question… What is colour? 🌈🔬
The children became real scientists for the day, wearing PPE, investigating how light travels, exploring the colour spectrum and learning scientific vocabulary including reflect, absorb and transmit.
They created their own natural dyes, tested different fabrics to see how colours were absorbed and even used microscopes to observe algae and pond water at x100 magnification! 🧪🧫
We were so proud of the children’s curiosity, enthusiasm and brilliant scientific thinking throughout the day.

Today our children conquered the giant swing and mastered some archery.
This afternoon we welcomed our children back to school and loved hearing all about the memories and adventures made during such a special week away. From conquering fears to trying new activities, the children have represented Moorland School brilliantly and should be incredibly proud of themselves. 💙
A huge thank you to Mrs Redmayne and Mrs Simmonds for taking the children and giving them such a fun-filled and memorable week. We know just how much time, energy and care goes into trips like these, and we are so grateful. 😊

Our children have explored healthy foods through playful activities, strengthened friendships through shared experiences, enjoyed sensory play & built confidence during their weekly enrichment sessions. We’ve seen so many proud smiles, growing independence and wonderful moments of kindness across all of our rooms this week.

We were so lucky to have Steph from Steph’s Cleaning Services visit us today as part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic! 🤩
Steph shared all about how she helps her clients and businesses, and how she manages her amazing team👩💼✨
The children had a super time learning how to use different cleaning tools, and we even got to clean the toys, the floor, and fold toilet paper! 🧽
It was such a fun, hands-on way to understand the value of teamwork and the importance of helping others.

What an incredible day at the Moorland Family Fun Afternoon! 🎉
Our school field was bursting with colour and laughter as families enjoyed a fantastic carnival-themed event, brought to life by Moorland Junior School and Moorland Junior School PTA.
From the vibrant face painting and bustling stalls to classic games like Hook a Duck and the Coconut Shy, there was fun at every turn. The inflatable helter skelter by Funtime Inflatables was a huge hit, while little ones loved the soft play and toddler bouncy castle provided by Ribble Valley Soft Play Hire.
🎶 The Ribble Valley Community Band and Phoenix Solo filled the air with music, and Adrian Catch wowed us all with his magical tricks! Families captured memories at the Photo Booth, refuelled with delicious food from Amico Mio, cooled down with ice cream, and relaxed with a drink from the bar.
💛 A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special — what a brilliant celebration of our school community!
