🐝 What a fantastic beekeeping session this week!
The children have been learning all about the role of the queen bee, and today helped transfer our growing colony into a larger hive. We were incredibly lucky to spot the queen bee herself 👑🐝
Did you know our Moorland hive is now home to approximately 10,000 bees? A thriving colony and an amazing opportunity for real-life learning. 🍯

To launch their new English unit on curating information booklets about camping, the children were introduced to a mystery bag filled with different camping-related objects. They loved making predictions and guessing what each item might be used for! 🏕️
The children then headed outside and worked together to put up a large four-person tent. They worked incredibly hard, showing fantastic teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills throughout the challenge. Miss Sunshine was super proud of them all!
To finish the session, the children climbed inside the tent and settled down to read a few pages from their new class book while listening to the rain outside. It was such a cosy and exciting way to begin their new English topic. 📚✨

Our School Ready children have been working incredibly hard during their weekly swimming sessions and we are so proud of the progress they are making. From building confidence in the water to developing important swimming techniques, each session brings new achievements and growing independence.
Swimming offers so many benefits for young children, helping to develop physical strength, coordination, balance and stamina, whilst also supporting listening skills, resilience and self-confidence. Most importantly, it teaches a vital life skill that can help keep children safe around water.

What a lovely week it has been at Nursery! 💚
From sharing stories with friends and exploring sensory experiences, to baking, role play, outdoor adventures and developing our physical skills, our children have been busy learning through play every step of the way.
We have loved seeing so many smiles, growing confidence, new friendships and moments of curiosity as the children explored their interests both indoors and outdoors. Whether splashing through puddles, getting creative, discovering new textures or simply enjoying time together, every day has been filled with fun and meaningful learning experiences.

A calm, cosy and restful space created with our little learners in mind 💛
We are delighted to introduce our new sleep room, providing additional space and comfort for our 2-3 year olds who need time to rest and recharge during their busy nursery day.
Designed to be peaceful, nurturing and inviting, the new space allows children to enjoy quality sleep in a calm environment that supports their wellbeing, development and individual routines. After all, growing minds need plenty of rest before heading back to a day full of play, exploration and adventure! 🌙✨

We were so lucky to have Steph from Steph’s Cleaning Services visit us today as part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic! 🤩
Steph shared all about how she helps her clients and businesses, and how she manages her amazing team👩💼✨
The children had a super time learning how to use different cleaning tools, and we even got to clean the toys, the floor, and fold toilet paper! 🧽
It was such a fun, hands-on way to understand the value of teamwork and the importance of helping others.

Our Key Stage 2 had an amazing day exploring the river, spotting wildlife, and learning all about the life cycles of mayflies and trout! 🪶🐠
There were lots of games, teamwork and hands-on fun as we discovered how rivers are full of life.

What an incredible day at the Moorland Family Fun Afternoon! 🎉
Our school field was bursting with colour and laughter as families enjoyed a fantastic carnival-themed event, brought to life by Moorland Junior School and Moorland Junior School PTA.
From the vibrant face painting and bustling stalls to classic games like Hook a Duck and the Coconut Shy, there was fun at every turn. The inflatable helter skelter by Funtime Inflatables was a huge hit, while little ones loved the soft play and toddler bouncy castle provided by Ribble Valley Soft Play Hire.
🎶 The Ribble Valley Community Band and Phoenix Solo filled the air with music, and Adrian Catch wowed us all with his magical tricks! Families captured memories at the Photo Booth, refuelled with delicious food from Amico Mio, cooled down with ice cream, and relaxed with a drink from the bar.
💛 A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special — what a brilliant celebration of our school community!
