Meet Henry - the youngest ridden member of the British Horseback Archery Association.
Last Saturday, our Year 2 student Henry made a remarkable debut at his first-ever horseback archery competition at Ribble Valley Mounted Archers.
At only 6 years old, Henry shot all five of his arrows along a 30 metre wide track in just 30 seconds – an outstanding accomplishment for someone who has only been practising the sport for three months. This earned him two second place rosettes, well done Henry!
Though Henry usually rides his own pony, Jessie, she isn’t trained for archery just yet. Instead, he had to rely on his mum’s horse, Rodney, a towering 16.3 hands high! Despite Rodney’s size, Henry confidently navigated the course, showcasing incredible focus and determination. His achievement is even more special considering his age, making him the youngest ridden member of the British Horseback Archery Association.
Henry’s love for horses and archery has grown rapidly, and we couldn’t be prouder of his dedication and courage. Competing in horseback archery requires a unique combination of courage, accuracy, and speed – all of which Henry has shown in abundance.
It was an absolute delight to sit with Henry today and hear about his achievements. He is an incredible young man!! Alongside the information about archery, we also learned that his ideal meal is Pepperoni Pizza followed by Vanilla Ice-Cream. Sounds like a meal of champions.
We can’t wait to see how far Henry’s journey will take him, and we wish him all the best in his future competitions.
