As our first week of 2026 comes to a close, we’ve taken time to reflect on our goals, aims and resolutions for the year ahead.
We challenged ourselves to encapsulate these intentions in just one word - a word to guide, inspire and ground us throughout the year.

From 9:00–10:30 each morning, our school comes alive with English. ✨📚📖✏️
Across every classroom today, children are writing sentences, crafting rich descriptions, painting superheroes they’ve imagined, learning new grammatical terms and sharing stories through reading with their teachers. 📝
Our whole-school 90-minute English session runs simultaneously each day, immersing children in language and nurturing confident, enthusiastic readers and writers. With our fantastic teachers, every child receives individualised support, guidance and challenge. 📚💛

✨S W I M M E R S ✨
Straight back in… and loving it! 💦🏊♀️
Our Pre-School & School Ready children have jumped straight back into their weekly swimming lessons, showing confidence, enthusiasm and huge smiles all round!
It’s been wonderful to see them reconnect with the water, practise familiar skills and continue building their confidence week by week.
Why weekly swimming lessons are so valuable:
✨ Builds water confidence and safety awareness
✨ Strengthens gross motor skills, coordination and balance
✨ Supports physical development and overall fitness
✨ Encourages listening, turn-taking and following instructions
✨ Boosts self-confidence and resilience as children master new skills
Regular swimming gives children the chance to progress steadily, feel secure in the water and develop a lifelong life skill - all while having lots of fun! 🌊💙

Not too little for a little snow! ❄️
Some of our 0-2’s enjoyed a gentle play and exploration of the snow today - tiny hands reaching out, curious eyes watching and lots of wonder all around.
For some of our little ones, this was their very first experience of snow 🤍✨

✨ S N O W D R O P S ✨
Our Toddler 2 children loved exploring snow play indoors, using pipettes and food colouring to drip, mix and watch the colours magically change.
This hands on sensory experience helped to strengthen fine motor skills, encourage curiosity and support early exploration - all while having lots of fun ❄️🎨

Reception absolutely loved today’s Forest School session! 🌿🌧️
A little rain (and a lot of mud!) never stops our youngest explorers.
Today’s adventure was all about puddle jumping, muddy hands, teamwork and embracing the great outdoors in all its autumn glory.
These sessions build confidence, resilience and a real connection with nature! 🥾🍂💛

We were so lucky to have Steph from Steph’s Cleaning Services visit us today as part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic! 🤩
Steph shared all about how she helps her clients and businesses, and how she manages her amazing team👩💼✨
The children had a super time learning how to use different cleaning tools, and we even got to clean the toys, the floor, and fold toilet paper! 🧽
It was such a fun, hands-on way to understand the value of teamwork and the importance of helping others.
A massive THANK YOU to Steph for the fantastic lesson and for showing us how every job, big or small, makes a difference! 🙌❤️

🌊 What an adventure by the River Ribble! 🐟💦
Our Key Stage 2 had an amazing day exploring the river, spotting wildlife, and learning all about the life cycles of mayflies and trout! 🪶🐠
There were lots of games, teamwork and hands-on fun as we discovered how rivers are full of life.
Back at school, we continued with more exciting activities to explore life cycles and migration - a fact filled day 🐠 🎣 ✨

What an incredible day at the Moorland Family Fun Afternoon! 🎉
Our school field was bursting with colour and laughter as families enjoyed a fantastic carnival-themed event, brought to life by Moorland Junior School and Moorland Junior School PTA.
From the vibrant face painting and bustling stalls to classic games like Hook a Duck and the Coconut Shy, there was fun at every turn. The inflatable helter skelter by Funtime Inflatables was a huge hit, while little ones loved the soft play and toddler bouncy castle provided by Ribble Valley Soft Play Hire.
🎶 The Ribble Valley Community Band and Phoenix Solo filled the air with music, and Adrian Catch wowed us all with his magical tricks! Families captured memories at the Photo Booth, refuelled with delicious food from Amico Mio, cooled down with ice cream, and relaxed with a drink from the bar.
💛 A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special — what a brilliant celebration of our school community!
