🏛️ Roman Day 🏛️
What an incredible day of immersive learning! From dressing as Roman soldiers and citizens, to hands-on activities (including making Roman-style flatbreads 🍕), our Year 3 and 4 pupils truly stepped back in time. History came to life through creativity, teamwork and curiosity – a brilliant way to deepen understanding and make learning unforgettable.
Later on this week our children will continue their Roman cross curricular work, creating majestic mosaics in art.
Ave, Romans! 🇮🇹✨

Our older pupils began by turning their thoughts, feelings and experiences into poems about themselves - carefully choosing words that captured who they are and how they see the world. Those poems then became self-portrait poems, a written reflection of identity, voice and personality.
In art, they took this one step further. Words were transformed into colour. Feelings became shades, moods became tones, and personality was expressed through vibrant, expressive backgrounds. 🎨✨
Through experimenting with colour, layering and depth, pupils learned how artists can replace words with visual language - using artistic techniques to bring meaning and emotion into their work.
A beautiful example of English and art working together, where poetry is not only read, it is seen. We can’t wait for the final products.

We had a wonderful trip to Paint Pot Clitheroe for a creative workshop. 🎨 🖌️👩🎨
The children made their own house tiles, learned new technical words, and practised using stencils. They showed great patience and, most of all, lots of creativity! We can’t wait to go back, pick up our tiles, and paint them. 🎨✨ @ilovepaintpot

Reception absolutely loved today’s Forest School session! 🌿🌧️
A little rain (and a lot of mud!) never stops our youngest explorers.
Today’s adventure was all about puddle jumping, muddy hands, teamwork and embracing the great outdoors in all its autumn glory.

When a teacher truly knows every child - their strengths, quirks, worries and sparks of curiosity becomes deeply personal. ❤️🍎
It’s not about delivering a lesson to a group. It’s about building relationships, trust and a sense of belonging that helps every child flourish.
In a smaller class:✨ Children have the confidence to speak, to question, to try.✨ Teachers have the space to adapt, to stretch, to nurture.✨ Parents see not just progress, but growth - academic, emotional and social.
At Moorland, we see the magic daily - the quiet confidence that builds when a child realises their teacher has time for them.
Because in the end, education isn’t a numbers game. It’s a human one. ❤️

We were so lucky to have Steph from Steph’s Cleaning Services visit us today as part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic! 🤩
Steph shared all about how she helps her clients and businesses, and how she manages her amazing team👩💼✨
The children had a super time learning how to use different cleaning tools, and we even got to clean the toys, the floor, and fold toilet paper! 🧽
It was such a fun, hands-on way to understand the value of teamwork and the importance of helping others.
A massive THANK YOU to Steph for the fantastic lesson and for showing us how every job, big or small, makes a difference! 🙌❤️

What an incredible day at the Moorland Family Fun Afternoon! 🎉
Our school field was bursting with colour and laughter as families enjoyed a fantastic carnival-themed event, brought to life by Moorland Junior School and Moorland Junior School PTA.
From the vibrant face painting and bustling stalls to classic games like Hook a Duck and the Coconut Shy, there was fun at every turn. The inflatable helter skelter by Funtime Inflatables was a huge hit, while little ones loved the soft play and toddler bouncy castle provided by Ribble Valley Soft Play Hire.
🎶 The Ribble Valley Community Band and Phoenix Solo filled the air with music, and Adrian Catch wowed us all with his magical tricks! Families captured memories at the Photo Booth, refuelled with delicious food from Amico Mio, cooled down with ice cream, and relaxed with a drink from the bar.
💛 A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special — what a brilliant celebration of our school community!
