Our international blend of players have been technically developed under the close guidance and tutelage of the world-famous coach, Mr Charlie Jackson. Coach Jackson has built an outstanding reputation for developing winning teams within major national football competitions.
Moorland School has produced many Academy level and professional players. The school is recognised at a regional, national and international level as being the recruiting ground for many of the leading clubs and academies.
Moorland has a growing and developing group of young girls signed at top women’s super- league clubs. We are excited by the progression of women’s football over recent years.

Meet the Professionals
Many of our students succeed in reaching their dream of a professional playing career, with our graduates representing teams throughout the leagues. Students have access to many unrivalled opportunities, such as working with renowned coaches who hold UEFA A&B licences as well as our growing portfolio of guest coaches which in 2021 included Manchester City legend, Yaya Touré. Our students are monitored weekly by the scouting networks of Category 1 Clubs such as Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City FC, making Moorland the perfect platform for those looking to secure professional contracts.
One specific achievement and proud moment for Moorland is the recent £22m transfer of Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers to Crystal Palace. We are absolutely delighted for Adam and his family. Witnessing the dedication and hard work that our pupils and family give in order to reach the top is truly inspiring. We look forward to seeing Adam wearing the national shirt in the coming years – no pressure Adam!
Our Academy Director
Mr Charlie Jackson
Charlie has worked with some of the finest young footballers during his 25 years in coaching. Coach Jackson has forged a world-class reputation within coaching circles, due to his record of signing young players to Category 1 Academies.
A high number of these players have gone on to sign professionally for clubs such as Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, Liverpool, Everton, Burton Albion, Villarreal in La Liga, along with Real Salt Lake and New England Revolution in the MLS.
Additionally, some players have been selected to represent their national teams such as England, Scotland and Kenya.
Previously Charlie also gained his international honours by accepting the invitation to join the Scottish FA setup, by way of becoming a development coach for the Scottish FA Regional Centre, again held at Moorland’s training facilities. The latter being the only one of its type outside of Scotland.
Coach Jackson has earned plaudits on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as from the powers that be at UEFA and European giants Ajax of Amsterdam.
Coach Jackson has also held coaching roles within the Academy setups of Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United and is currently the Manchester City FC Technical Skills Coach.

Moreover, the rapid progression of women’s club football has opened up exciting opportunities for young talents to pursue professional careers in the sport. With the establishment of elite women’s leagues and increased investment in grassroots development, aspiring female footballers now have clearer pathways to pursue their ambitions at the highest levels of the game.
Currently at Moorland we have an incredibly talented group of young female footballers signed to top league clubs. These players have won national titles within the Moorland Teams and we look forward to developing and growing our status within women’s football.
