Our Junior school had a fantastic time last week when they visited Waddow Hall for a week of adventure and fun! After a year of apprehension and cancelled events, it was wonderful to see the children enjoying themselves together and learning new skills.
The week began with Year 3 and 4 taking to the woods for Bush Craft, Fire Building, Archery and Climbing. The children worked in teams to build their own shelters from logs, twigs and leaves, as well as learning how to light a fire safely and keep it alight in an emergency situation. They also had a lot of fun climbing and we were proud of those children who faced their fears and got the top!
The rest of the week was dedicated to our Year 5 and 6 children who took part in some more amazing activities. They included Climbing, Obstacle Course, Team Building, Crate Challenge, Codebreaker, Tree Climb, Zipwire, Canoeing, Nightline, Archery and Jacobs Ladder.
The children said the Zipwire was a real highlight with one student saying, “I was scared at first but once I jumped off it felt like I was flying!”
When asked about the week Mrs Peachey said, “We have all had such an amazing week. It was lovely to see the children, happy, smiling and enjoying themselves. It was great that we could end this strange year in such a positive way!”
Amy, a Year 3 student added, “It was very fun! We tried lots of new activities, we did bush crafting, archery and climbing, we got to play on the park too! The climbing was very scary but lots of fun! It was an excellent day, on a scale of 1-10 I’d rate it a million!”
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing staff at Waddow Hall. Your guidance and expertise really did make the week a fantastic one for all involved. We would also like to thank our amazing children, who were well-mannered, courteous and enthusiastic throughout.
We look forward to next year and planning lots more events for the children to enjoy!
