The Royal Family have made an official statement, and it is with great sadness and anguish the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II has been confirmed. At the age of 96, HM Queen Elizabeth II passed away at Balmoral Castle with her beloved family at her side.

The longest reigning monarch in our British heritage, HM Queen Elizabeth II took the throne on 6th February 1952 and has ruled the realm for over 70 years. Queen Elizabeth has seen world wars and peace making. Her Majesty has been served by 15 prime ministers and has gained respect and recognition from leaders all over the world.

We join the Royal Family and the rest of the world in mourning our Queen. Our students at Moorland School are a part of this history, our parents and their parents are a part of this history. Our children got to experience a Queen who have ruled for many years, although they didn’t experience the Queen in her youth, they still are made aware of how special the United Kingdom is and how grateful we are for Queen Elizabeth’s reign over our beautiful country.

During this heart-breaking time our school and nursery settings will remain open as we understand this news can impact families greatly. We are there to support you and your children. We are your family and you are ours.
