We are very proud to report that Moorland Year 9 pupil Noah Cambridge recently won the U16’s Lancashire Schools Golf Championship. The competition, with over 60 of the best golfers in Lancashire, is hotly contested and Noah has won the Championship for the second year running.
The win comes just weeks after Noah fought hard for a 6th place ﬁnish in the U18’s Lancashire Schools Championship. With a score of four over par, Noah achieved the best score for any boy of his year group. As a result of his recent successes Noah will now represent the Lancashire Schools in the English Schools U16’s Championship later this year. The golf season is mapped out well in advanced and will now tart to become increasingly busy. Something that Moorland are happy to facilitate. Headteacher Jonathan Harrison explained “Moorland are really proud of Noah’s achievements and hope that he continues to pursue his passion for Golf alongside his studies here at Moorland. For any of our learners that have a vested extra-curricular passion we will timetable ﬂexibly in order that they can ﬂourish academically and professionally. It’s very much about developing the whole individual.” David, Noahs Father added ”our son has a passion for golf and this means at times we ask the school to support his passion. We are delighted that Moorland School actively encourage and support his dreams. Moorland show a genuine excitement to celebrate any successes and support the tougher times.” Noah, now 14, plays oﬀ a handicap of 4.6 at his home club Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club and during term-time plays locally at Wilpshire and Clitheroe Golf Club. For Noah the handwork and extra-hours are really paying oﬀ. Noah explained “I was delighted to retain the Lancashire Schools U16’s Championship. II managed a gross score of 3 over par and won by 5 shots.” Not many juniors have ever retained the trophy and Noah is the youngest player to ever do so. Previous winners include Tommy Fleetwood and Nick Dougherty. Noah’s other accolades include: • Number 1 ranked Year 9 golfer in Lancashire • Wee Wonders British U12’s Championships at St Andrews. • Lancashire Schools U16’s Championship aged 13 and he was runner up in Lancashire U14’s Championship. • Represented Lancashire Schools in the English Schools U16’s Championships. • Junior club champion at Wilpshire Golf Club and Clitheroe Golf Club for two years running
